Get to Know Dr. Beverly Pedroche (she/her/hers)

I love what I do! That’s right, I am one of those fortunate people who enjoys their job. I’m a licensed psychologist, blogger, contributor for Ask Us Beauty Magazine, and owner of a thriving private practice in Boca Raton, FL.

Do I Know What I’m Doing?

I have about twenty years of clinical experience and several big, fancy degrees, including a doctorate in psychology and extensive trainings (details below). I, however, believe that the makings of a good psychologist include more than diplomas. Research has shown that a connection between client and counselor is necessary for the therapeutic process to be effective. So, I am going to use this section, in part, to discuss my personal style of therapy to help you decide if I might be the right therapist for you.

What Is It Like To Work With Me?

I work best with a client who likes to learn and who is ready to do the work. The type of therapy that I offer is direct, collaborative, and interactive. I’ve been told that I am compassionate and a good listener; however, I am not afraid to challenge your way of thinking.

We WILL: look for solutions, set and achieve goals, build coping skills, be mostly present-focused, laugh sometimes, possibly cry sometimes, skip the BS (who has time for that anyway).

We WON’T: spend years discussing your childhood.

I WON’T: read your mind (I’m a psychologist not a psychic), provide you with a prescription (I am a psychologist not a psychiatrist), turn you into someone else (I’m a psychologist, remember, not a magician).

Some Psychobabble

To help you, I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Using CBT, you will learn to identify unhealthy thoughts that lead to distressing emotions and keep you stuck. I will then teach you the skills necessary to change unhelpful thoughts and create lasting improvement in mood and functioning. In simple terms (probably too simple): by changing your thoughts, we will change your actions and feelings.

Are you are looking for:

– A safe, comfortable, judgement-free space to share your concerns and struggles?
You can be honest and vulnerable with me. No need to put on a brave or happy face here. Come as you truly are.

– Coping skills to help you deal with your problems?
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy may be just right for you. And more good news…those skills and strategies can be generalized to future difficulties because, let’s face it, life will continue to throw challenges your way.

– Honest engagement and feedback?
You’ll get support but I won’t co-sign your BS. If you don’t want that, I am not the therapist for you. But if you want objective feedback from a professional, if you are ready for growth and change, I can help.

– A compassionate professional who can actually help?
I am human too, with my own life experiences and therapist! I have almost two decades of clinical experience and am very honest about my professional strengths and, at the same time, I will not work with you if I do not feel that I can be helpful.

…Then let’s chat!

I am committed to...

– providing psychotherapy services, within my scope of competence, to humans of all race, class, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, religious or political conviction, age, body size and/or shape and ability.

– continued learning and to cultural humility.

– effecting change and acknowledging that language is a powerful tool and that words matter.

– creating a psychologically safe, inclusive, respectful, and welcoming environment.

Are you ready to take the next step?

It takes courage and vulnerability to seek therapy, but the results can be life-changing. Why struggle when you don’t have to?

It is important to me that you to have the best experience possible. Therefore, I keep the number on my caseload limited. Contact me now to inquire about availability and to see if we’re the right fit for one another.
